Set up 8x in your coding agent

Copy one prompt into Claude Code, Codex or Zero. Your agent installs the skills and configures the tools to build, publish and remix on 8x.

Everything your agent needs to get started: all six skills, CLI setup, Paean sign-in and the 8x.gg MCP connection. It will guide you through any browser login needed.

Setup prompt

Set up 8x Skills for the coding agent I am using so I can build, publish and remix on 8x.gg. Please carry out the installation and configuration, then verify the result.

1. Clone or safely update https://github.com/paean-ai/8x-skills. Read README.md, claude-code/paean-skills-update/SKILL.md and claude-code/paean-zero-setup/SKILL.md for the current installation and setup instructions. Preserve local changes.

2. Detect the current agent (Claude Code, Codex or Zero) and its supported skill location. Install all six skills with their scripts and references: paean-skills-update, paean-zero-setup, paean-game-create, paean-sdk, paean-publish and paean-remix. For agents with skill discovery, use SKILL.md files with the required frontmatter; otherwise add skill pointers to AGENTS.md. Preserve unrelated skills and existing project instructions.

3. Check dependencies and install Zero CLI if missing. Check Paean authentication and guide me through browser login only if needed. Keep credentials local; never print tokens or ask me to paste secrets into chat. Preserve my existing provider settings.

4. Configure the 8xgg MCP server at https://api.paean.ai/8x/mcp for this agent using its supported authentication method. Reuse a working connection, preserve other MCP servers, and verify that its discovery tools are available.

5. Verify the installed skills, dependencies, authentication and MCP connection without publishing anything. Report the repository revision, installed paths and verification results. If a restart or manual step is needed, explain exactly what remains; do not report incomplete setup as successful.
